 Whether you are looking for a beginner class or are a continuing dancer, we are sure to have the class for you.  We offer creative movement, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary workshops.
Classes offered for ages 2-17yrs!*
*Please note that we will offer some regular, weekly morning and/or afternoon classes, in addition to the listed workshops. View weekly schedule here.  SOME EVENING, WEEKLY CLASSES WILL ALSO BE OFFERED/ CONTINUED FOR COMBO CLASSES, as requested!

Creative Movement: for Ages 2-3 Years June 7-August 13, 2010
Tuesdays 9:30-10:15am, Wednesdays 9:30-10:15am, OR Thursdays 9:30-10:15am, cost: $65/month, sign up for one month or the whole Summer!
Musical Instruments... Songs... Dance... Movement... Balls... Scarves... Hula Hoops... Parachute...and much more! A wonderful introductory class to the dance studio, working on flexibility, coordination, following directions and more, all while in a structured yet fun atmosphere!

 
Summer Dance Basics Workshop: for Ages 3-6 Years
Two and a half Sessions: June 7-July 2, July 6-30 & August 2-13, 2010 
Summer Dance Basics 2009 is a wonderful introduction to the world of dance for every young child!  From Fairies & Frogs to Princes & Princesses, each child will love exploring the world of their imagination!  Our Summer Dance Basics Camps are designed for young children – Fairies & Frogs for age 3-4 and Princes & Princesses for ages 5-6 - teaching rhythm, strength, flexibility, coordination, motor skills, grace, terminology, dance etiquette & history.   
     Fairies & Frogs: Ages 3-4, M/W or T/TH, 9-10:15am OR 4:00-5:15pm
Cost: $130.00 per session.   August is pro-rated, as it is only a two week session.  One  time per week is optional at $65.00 per month.
Does your little one dance around the house on an almost constant basis??  Maybe dance classes are the answer! Your little boy or girl will be exposed to ballet and tap technique in this introductory class. Put to fun music and songs, children will gain a better understanding of musicality, rhythm, motor skills, and coordination, while dancing like their favorite princess or ninja!   
     Princes & Princesses: Ages 5-6, M/W or T/TH, 10:15-11:30am OR 4:00-5:15pm
Cost: $130.00 per session.   One  time per week is optional at $65.00 per month.
An introductory and continuing education class to Ballet & Tap for the beginning dancer. Students gain better coordination, motor skills, & musicality while using their imagination! Dancers learn about their favorite princesses, princes, swans, fairies and songs through dance history, as well as understanding terminology and gaining strength!

Summer Continuing Studies:  for Ages 7-9 Years
Two sessions:  June 7--July 2, &/OR July 6-30, 2010,  4/ 8 weeks
     Tutus & Top Hats:  Ages 7-9, M-F, 9:00am-3:00pm
Cost: $500.00 for the session OR $130/week
Designed for the continuing dancer, this workshop focuses on improving the student's ballet, tap & jazz technique, as well as exploring individual creativity and imagination. Students study their favorite characters from ballets and musicals such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Singin' in the Rain, learning about dance history in a fun and educational atmosphere as we examine and critique performances we watch.
In addition to expanding on technique, students also focus on coordination, flexibility, strength, grace, and stage performance.  The students will expand upon their basic terminology for ballet, jazz, and tap techniques as well, and make a booklet of terminology & dance histories to take home at the end of the session.  On the last day of the workshop, the kids showcase their talent & improvement in an informal performance for family and friends!    
Junior Intensive Workshop: for ages 10-14 Years 

One Session:   June 7-July 2 &/OR July 6-30, 4 /8 weeks

Mon-Fri 9am-4pm

Cost: $800 for the session or $220/week 

df Ballet, Pre-pointe, Pointe, Variations,  Jazz & Contemporary!   (Class levels will be divided, as needed based upon placement class the first day)

A dance intensive designed for our Junior level, ages 10-14, study their favorite forms of dance including ballet, jazz, contemporary, pointe & pre-pointe technique and variations, while incorporating dance history critique.  Different highlights may be included such as, choreography class, audition etiquette, and nutrition.   On the last day of the workshop, the students showcase their skills in an informal performance at the studio for family and friends!      Our 10-14 year old workshops are designed for the continuing dancer.  We focus on improving  technique, as well as coordination, flexibility, strength, grace and performance qualities.

Students and members of the Junior Performance Group also learn choreography that will be performed at festivals and showcases throughout the coming year! SCBD staff will conduct classes. Some guest teachers will be on staff as well!

Workshops:

Workshops in classical & contemporary ballet & pointe, tap, and modern/ contemporary dance, as well as choreography.  Hip-Hop workshops also!  Please note, Teens are also allowed to attend Adult Int/ Adv classes during the Summer, for those who are unable to attend the workshops.  Please visit the adult page for a full list of classes.

Ballet Intensive:  ages 14-18yrs

One Session: August 2-13, 2010

Mon-Fri 1:00 -4:00pm  Cost: $300.00

Classical Ballet, Variations & Contemporary Ballet too! focuses on improving ballet technique, strength, grace, flexibility, and performance. This workshop consists of classes in Ballet technique, Pointe, Variations, and Ballet Dance History.  Variations class will not only challenge students technically, but encourage them to show their true colors in performance! The Contemporary Ballet section will push students to reach beyond boundaries!  Informal showcase on the last day! SCBD staff will conduct classes.

Tap Intensive:

This workshop focuses on bringing out the performer in each student!  Tap class daily, by SCBD staff, Keira Leverton,  exploring different forms of each technique– musical theatre, contemporary, & classical!  Students will also perform what they have learned at the informal showcase at the end of the session!    

Hip Hop Workshop:

This Hip-Hop Workshop with Gino Johnson focuses on improving hip-hop techniques and performance.  Classes  will consist of learning different hip-hop techniques, and combinations from "the real deal". 

Contemporary Dance & Exploring Choreography:

Dancers will be challenged and encouraged to explore their inner creativity.  Students will learn choreography from SCBD staff and be challenged to experiment with different choreographic techniques, as well.    A contemporary dance class will be conducted daily.  Informal showcase on the last day.
