Classical Ballet (All levels):
Training in
traditional ballet technique and styles, including RAD base and methods developed by Balanchine. Ballet, especially classical
ballet, puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. The foundation of the dance consists of five basic positions,
all performed with turnout. CBD instructors are skilled in many of styles of classical ballet, with empahsis placed on two
of the seven, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Balanchine method (American). The techniques found in classical ballet
are a framework for many other styles of dance, including hip hop dance, modern ballet and contemporary ballet. Pointework
is available for higher level students.
Contemporary Ballet (Adult & Teens):
Contemporary ballet is a form of dance influenced by both classical ballet, modern and jazz dance. It takes
its technique and use of pointework from classical ballet, although it permits a greater range of movement that may not adhere
to the strict body lines set forth by schools of ballet technique.
